Aero Country East: An Aviation Exclusive Residential Community in North Texas

July 8, 2010 - McKinney, Texas — In its forty-year history, Aero Country Airport has been a center for home built aircraft and produced a number of well known air show and aerobatic competition pilots.

And now it has a new neighbor — Aero Country East, an aviation exclusive gated community with 40 custom Hangar Townhomes and 79 Hangars that will be built on the east side of the runway.

Mike Shell of Heavy Ventures is currently developing Aero Country East. Mr. Shell commented, "As an avid Pilot, I've seen many Hangar Townhomes in Vail and Jackson Hole, just not in North Texas. With our easy access to major transportation corridors, Aero Country is well-located for a fly-in residential community."

In partnership with the Aero Country Property Owners Association (ACPOA), Heavy Ventures is also reconstructing the existing runway facility. The newly remodeled runway will be 60 feet wide and 3,000 feet in length with new runway lighting, lighted windsocks and glass-bead striping.

Architect Michael Malone has been involved with shaping the Hangar Townhomes. "We created generous living spaces and oriented them to showcase plane activity along the runway. It's a view all pilots will really appreciate."

The airport is a privately owned, public use airport located on the Northwest side of McKinney near the northwest corner of Virginia Parkway and Custer. The ACPOA currently has over 140 members with approximately 250 aircraft.
